Ergani Center


\r\nThe Ergani Centre is a Woman Resources Centre which was established in 1991. The Centre is the outcome of a mixture of ideas from a number of organizations and authorities of Northern Greece, all focusing on enhancing female participation in the workforce and on eliminating factors that lead to women’s exclusion from the labour market. The Ergani Centre also supports young people and people members of social vulnerable groups. The name we have chosen for the centre, “ERGANI”, is an adjective attributed to the Goddess Athena (Minerva) by the Ancient Greeks in honour of the Goddess’s diligence and creative ability, features that best summarize the services, for which the Centre was established.\r\nThe Ergani Centre supports women and young people who aspire\r\n•    To enter or re-enter labour market\r\n•    To improve their working position\r\n•    To create or improve their own business\r\n•    To start up a women’s or social cooperative of improve an existing one\r\n•    To familiarize themselves with modern technology and use it\r\nIn recent years, the Centre provides systematic and specialized services to young men and women in the field of information and informing about:\r\n•    improvement of individual and social skills related to labour market integration\r\n•    improve access to the labour market\r\n•    promotion of youth entrepreneurship and encourage business creation by young people\r\n•    guidance based on the skills, knowledge, talents, interests aimed at removing stereotypes in career decision\r\n•    Entrepreneurship in the Social Economy\r\n•    Dimension/gender perspective\r\nMoreover Ergani Centre main services are:\r\n•    To support in practical ways members of vulnerable social groups through Accompanying Support Services.\r\n•    To eliminate existing stereotypes in the choice of career path and to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to young people.\r\n•    To create educational tools and to disseminate the acquired know-how at a local, regional, national and European level.\r\n•    To conduct researches and studies about employment and entrepreneurship\r\n•    To design Mentoring programs customized to meet young people’s needs\r\n\r\nThe Ergani Center participates in national and transnational networks and creates or/and cooperates with other recourse centres. We provide counselling services on employment and business issues to unemployed, men and women, young people and to members from vulnerable social groups, in the framework of special funding programmes. Furthermore, we create educational packages and conduct researches on issues related to women’s employment and entrepreneurship, the results of which are diffused in local, regional, national and European level.\r\nThe basic principles underlying the Centre’s operations have not been altered since its establishment and constitute the core of its successful course throughout the years:\r\n•    Every beneficiary is a unique case / person\r\n•    The priorities and particular characteristics of every beneficiary are treated with the utmost respect\r\n•    The relationship between the beneficiaries and the advisors is equal at all levels\r\n•    The counseling process is proactive and participatory\r\n……………………………………………………………………\r\nErgani Centre from 2001 took the legal form of a Non Profit Company under the Greek Civic Code.
